Out of every $100 you earn, where does it go?
Guess your split out of 100: rent, transport, food, debt, fun and future you. Rough guesses are fine. It takes three minutes, needs no bank login, and nothing you type leaves your browser.
What’s a healthy split?
A common starting point is the 50/30/20 rule: about 50 for needs, 30 for wants and 20 for saving and extra debt payments. Most people aren’t there, and that’s fine. The example above saves 5 out of 100, which is a real start.
What should I change first?
Circle the biggest number that isn’t rent. Usually that’s transport (a car payment), debt or food. Moving even 2 out of 100 from there to future you changes the picture over time. On $1,800 a month, 2 out of 100 is $36 a month, or about $18,753 after 20 years at an illustrative 7% a year.
Why out of 100?
Because a percentage doesn’t ask what you earn. It works at any income, in any country, and it feels less like being judged. ftrme’s Present Me is built the same way.
Quick answers
What is the 50/30/20 rule?
A simple budget split: about 50% of take-home for needs, 30% for wants, and 20% for savings and extra debt payments. It’s a starting point, not a rule you fail.
